D.I. Reports: It All Starts Here.
First conceived of in 2005, the D.I. Report is a research tool designed by analysts for analysts. By summer 2011, our library of D.I. Reports and accompanying analyst notes covered over 1,500 public companies. Not only is it our core research product, this analytically rich data set also provides the foundation for all other research reports we produce. This is independent investment research like you've never seen before.
In 1-2 pages, a D.I. Report gives you a concise summary of the 100 different risk factors we manually search for in a public company's SEC filings and related comment letters from the past 5 years. Accompanying Analyst Notes, delivered in an Excel spreadsheet, can exceed 80 pages. Notes give you all the source data we used to produce a D.I. Report.

- To produce just one D.I. Report, our analysts manually review 5 years of a public company's SEC filings and related comment letters. No electronic data scraping here - this is intensive work!
- Even if we showed them how to do it, it would still take a seasoned securities analyst at least 50 hours to produce one D.I. Report. We know - we timed it. Who has that kind of time?
- To build the D.I. Library, we estimate our analysts reviewed nearly 10 million pages of documents. When it comes to disclosure "tricks" some public companies like to use, you could say we've seen it all!

Undisclosed SEC Probe Alerts
We pioneered using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to uncover undisclosed SEC investigations.
What's in a FOIA Update?
- Real-time warnings on undisclosed SEC probes.
- Based on results from the 2,500 FOIA requests we file with the SEC each year.
- Published as we get them, no waiting for warnings to be incorporated into a D.I. Report.
- FOIA Update data produces the D.I. Watch List, which lists all the companies we found that have risk of undisclosed SEC investigations.
D.I. Perspectives
Our library provides excellent source data for special research reports on trends, disclosure shortfalls, or observations made by our analysts.
What are Examples of D.I. Perspectives Reports?

- Reports that pick apart and criticize a company's disclosure when we find dangerous shortfalls.
