The SEC's Division of Corporation Finance routinely sends comment letters when reviewing a public company's EDGAR filings. SEC comment letters are analytically rich.
Starting around 2005 the SEC began posting its comment letters for free at its website. Those dated earlier are only available by filing a Freedom of Information Act request to the SEC or by purchasing them though a commercial provider (assuming the other providers even have them).
